Significance of TEC Approval
The Department of Telecommunications, under the Ministry of Communications, authorizes the Telecommunication Engineering Center (TEC) in India for telecommunication product certifications in accordance with the Mandatory Testing Certification of Telecommunication Equipment (MTCTE) regulations. The “Indian Telegraph (Amendment) Rules” of September 5, 2017, mandate that all telecommunication equipment must undergo mandatory TEC testing and certification before being sold or imported into India.
Having said this, the TEC has recently added 12 products under Phase III and IV of the Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE) to its testing list, effective from August 1, 2024. Among these products is the LAN switch.
