Is there any way to avoid broadcast/multicast storm in my network?
Answer:
You may enable the Storm Detect feature to disable a port when it is receiving a large number of Broadcast and/or Multicast packets. The switch can monitor for packets and take action based on percentage of bandwidth utilization or number of packets per second.
For example, port fe1 and fe2 are set 80% utilization and 3000 packets per second with both multicast and broadcast. So, if the port fe1 or fe2 receives the over 80% bandwidth or 3000 packets per second of multicast or broadcast packet, the port will be disabled.
You can configure the switch to automatically restore the disabled port to service after a specified period of time. In case if you configure it as 10 seconds, the port that is disabled will be recovered after 10 seconds.
